Vintage Thingies Thursday - Tea Towels

Hello to all my vintage, retro and antique loving friends. Time for one of our favorite memes.

Last week I shared some vintage aprons I purchased at the local flea market. I found another one last weekend and I told some of you that I was going to share it this week. As often happens, life gets in the way. We had our two year old grandson visiting for a couple of days and I have been busy having so much fun with him that I did not get my newest apron pressed and photographed for this week. Hopefully, I can share it with you next week.

This week, I have something I think you will enjoy. I know you have all seen the embroidered tea towels with days of the week. But have you ever seen a set of courtship towels?

Make sure you click on the picture to enlarge it. These are too cute to miss. One of my dearest friends gave these to me for my birthday. She had to look long and hard to find them. I love the little stitches used to make the cats' fur. My favorite ones are "yearning" and "wedding" I can hear the tom "singing" from the top of a fence. His top hat and the bride's bouquet and headpiece are just precious.

Make sure you visit Suzanne's blog, Coloradolady to see more wonderful vintage, retro and antique things.

These are adorable, I have never seen a set like these. I would never use them...display them, but I would not want to mess them up. I love all vintage linens...but these are too cute!
Have a great VTT!

I think almost anything with cats is cute, but those are interesting and unusual too.

I've never seen courtship tea towels, though I CERTAINLY remember when ALL tea towels were embroidered. I also know what courtship BUNDLING was - - - - do you?

Oh my gosh, these are the sweetest things ever! Will you use them, or somehow display them? Because they definitely have to be seen somehow, not packed away! Too cute!

I have never seen this theme, either, Bea. The only thing that could make them cuter is puppies instead of cats. LOL

These towels are really funny, your friend should think about going into business and they are so sweet but retro. I've just bought some lovely bamboo towels but the choice in design wasn't exactly great. They could do with some help from your friend. I'm sure you will treasure them.

I do remember two of those, and I remember them because I really wanted little doggies and could not find them so had to do the cats instead. I made those for a cousin's wedding so it had to be about 25 or 30 years ago I'd guess. The four of them do make a wonderful set.

Uh. I've never seen these! How cute!
The Wedding cats are so handsomely adorned. She looks beautiful!

Still. I love the Days of the Week towels and every time I find a set, one day is missing. I know what they did. They had a big spill and grabbed Tuesday.
