In Rememberance

The last two days have been hard for Hubs and me. We lost our boxer girl, Ashley, Friday morning. It was evident in the last few months that her time to go was drawing near. We thought we were prepared. There is a large void in our house without her.

Ashley touched many lives. Because she was such a great dog, we decided to add another boxer to our home. That decision led us to contact Mo/Kan Boxer Rescue and we became volunteers for this wonderful organization. Over the next few years, we had many boxers in our home as foster dogs, we did home visits to people wanting to adopt a boxer, we spent hours at meet and greets showing off our dogs and talking to people about boxers and rescue. Eventually, we adopted Quade, then Emilio, both coming into our homes as foster dogs.

Ashley was THE Alpha dog. We know without a doubt once she reached The Rainbow Bridge, she started kicking butt and taking names, letting all know she was there and she was the boss.

Run free, Ashley.

Oh Bea, this is heartbreaking. I know how much you love your pups as they are family members.
I dread losing my babies too. I am glad you posted about the rescue organizations though, this is very important to share. I have a post up since Friday on our Ozzie and how he is a great dog from boxer rescue too.
take care...
hugs, Suz

Hi Bea, I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Ashley. My heart is hurting just thinking of you and your husbands loss. Just think of the wonderful life she had, because of ya'lls love and taking her into your home and making her feel so loved and special. I hate it when my family starts to talk about my daughter's (BellaDella) 2 beagles getting older, because I can't stand the thoughts of Bailey and Murphy not being around. Okay...enough, I can't see for the tears. Take care and know that the work you guys do with the Boxer Adoption group is greatly appreciated.

A Big Hug,
Janice

Ashley is beautiful. I'm so sorry that shes gone. Dogs are so wonderful. They are a reminder of what is good and right in this world.
We are the fortunate ones that allow dogs to be apart of our lives.., but with this acceptance come the reality that they don't live as long as we do and must leave us here to give love to other animals that needs us. I think it's a plan that is made somewhere over the rainbow bridge where Ashley will, happily, wait for you until you come to get her.
