Vintage Thingies Thursday - Little Things

Welcome to one of the favorite memes of lovers of old, retro and vintage. It is hosted every week by the fabulous Suzanne at Coloradolady. Click here to see all the wonderful things others are sharing this week.

I have some small vases I would like to share with you this week.

The little vase in the middle was found in a box lot at an auction. Who knows what item the box held that I got me to bidding. The other two vases were bought at the local flea market.

I have no idea what it was in the box that had me bidding at the auction. After getting home, I found this little thing buried in the bottom. It is mostly white with a splash of light green on one side and is only three inches high. I love its classic shape.

The whimsy of this vase is what drew me to it. The price of fifty cents didn't hurt either. It is five inches tall from the base to the tip of the middle finger.

I should have put a flower in it so you could see it looks like a hand is holding the flower.

This little vase is four inches high. I love the colors. The red flower stands out on the base.

Here is the back. It says "PAT-PNG. O.P.CO. ZAN.O" I know that the first letters mean patent pending, but a search using the other letters lead me no where. Below the letters is some lovely scroll work.

Thanks for visiting me this week. Make sure you hurry over to Suzanne's. Tell them I sent you.

I love the hand!

I think the "O" on the last one probably means Ohio.

What a wild hand vase! Are the fingers sized so that you can keep rings on it too?

All these vases have such interesting shapes.

I can't tell scale from your pictures, but wondered if the hand vase could double as a ring holder.

Oh, I adore that one vase with the red flower! I definitely would have bought that myself. I started collecting pottery several months ago, and I just love it!

Hands down, the hand wins popularity, haha, but I love the blue and red colors of the last vase.

That hand vase is so interesting, I've never seen anything like it before! My mom has a little teeny crystal vase and I think it is my very favorite vase because it's so tiny and cute! Perfect for violets.

Cute vases!

I think the "O" means Ohio, too. And isn't there a Zanesville, Ohio? So maybe that's what that part means. And the "CO." probably means "company". I love trying to figure out things like this!

Oh Bea... the little hand vase is adorable. I'd love to see a picture of her holding a flower, I'll bet it's delightful! I'd probably become obsessed with changing different types of flowers to see which looked best.
It's better that I don't own that hand vase. :)

I love those little vases, especially that first one-- a tiny perfect little ginger jar! How cute.

The hand is very neat -- I'd be tempted to put it by my sink and put my handled scrubber in it! :-P

Thanks for visiting That Old House... glad to hear from another nutter who is being ruled by an old house! BTW I scrolled down thru other posts and I LOVE your tea towels... they are just so charming. But nothing's as cute as that grandson. Oh my oh my. I think I'm going to be 1,000 years old before I get one of those!

Oh, I just love these especially the one with the flower. When I see something small like this, I always want to get a dollhouse and start filling it with little things. Thanks for sharing these!
